Sentier littoral - The Mauresque’s path

Description

  1. Go down towards Batteries Beach,  bypass the beach and take the stairs on left. Take right and continue straight on at the crossroad. Pass under the porch and  after 100 meters  turn left.
  2. Pass under the bridge on right then take left and go down diagonally  toward the Oli Beach The beach’s name comes from an old oil mill which was there once. At the end of the beach take the path on the right to bypass the Oli’s residence alongside the supermarket.
  3. At the roundabout, go back up left along the cemetery and take the path for a second  time, bypassing the sport field of medical and educative Institut (IME) La Mauresque. From there, reach the littoral by passing the military vestiges of the past on left.
  4. Then take right and continue towards the Batteries and the Mauresque cove. Pass the cove and take left towards the ridge.Come back down to the houses of Port-Vendres, behind the auction house reserved at the professionals.This is the place where the fishermen weigh and estimate the price of their fishes late in the afternoon. It’s also the departure point of the hike « Crossing of Port-Vendres » in which you will discover the fishing harbour’s life , marine life  and commercial port , as well as an open air tour of the works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Access and parking

Between Collioure and Port-Vendres (RD 914), just before entering in the city of Port-Vendres, go to the carpark of Pla de l’OLI area.
