The two Chapels

This variant of the cork’s path lead to the Chapel de Vie at the little Chapel of Saint-Jérôme, Romanesque style

Description

  1. Follow the direction to the campsite  "Les Mimosas" to take the road of la Massane. The fast road is on your right. Do not go under the bridge. 
  2. At the next junction, take a left in direction of the Ermitage of  Notre-Dame de Vie. Walk through an oak forest until you reach the 2 chapels. Enjoy the panorama of the Roussillon’s plain before coming back down. The stony path is then on your left.
  3. After a few meters, use the trail DFCI-N°36 which enters the cork oak forest and crosses the prairies of the Mas Torrenaps and Platjatorta.
  4. At the junction, take the little paved road on the left  Be careful, during a few meters , it’s a real wall in front of you. Then take on the trail  DFCI n°28 and progressively climb up the mountain. Catch your breath and admire an exceptional panorama on the Mount Canigou, the Roussillon’ plain the Mediterranean Sea.
  5. Stay on this trail where the forest is home to different essences of oak trees and which is crossed by some steams . At the citern n° 372, go down on the left in direction of Valmy. Pay attention to your speed in this area, hikers and cars pass near the houses.
