One of the most beautiful walks in Argelès-sur-Mer.
Description
- From the parking lot, head down towards the "Camping des Mimosas" and turn right onto the paved road.
- Follow the Route de la Massane and the PR ARG8 markings, walking alongside the main road for about 800 meters.
- At the second bridge, turn left and follow the Route de l'Ermitage Notre-Dame de Vie (PR ARG7), which gently ascends through a forest of downy oaks. Pass by the "Ferme du Bonheur" and several "Mas"-style houses.
- At the end of the paved road, a stone path leads to the Hermitage and the pre-Romanesque-style St. Jerome Chapel (10th century). These sites are open and maintained year-round, so please be respectful. Enjoy the stunning view of the Canigou Massif, the Roussillon Plain, the villages, and the Mediterranean Sea.
- For the descent, take the track to the left, closed by a green gate, which slopes downward. Quickly reconnect with the small road to Faba Est. This route crosses vineyards and offers beautiful views of part of the Albera Massif.
- At the junction near the small bridge, rejoin the route you took earlier to return to Valmy.
- Departure : Valmy Castle
- Arrival : Valmy Castle
- Towns crossed : ARGELES SUR MER
