Discovering the Madeloc Tower which was part of the Pyrenees signal towers network. Exceptional view throughout the hike.
This loop, starting from Port-Vendres, leads to the Saint-Elme and Dugommier forts, then connects to the Madeloc Tower via the Water Path. It offers exceptional views of the coast as well as a glimpse into the military defense system.

    Cultural heritage

    Fort Dugommier

    Fortress built to monitor the towns of Collioure and Port-Vendres, Fort Dugommier was born in 1893. Because of its strategic location, it sweeps the coast of the eye. However, the Second World War did not spare him by destroying a large part of the fort. He now belongs to an association. Walk pleasant, but beware of the wind because there, it blows!

Description

  1. Start in front of the Port-Vendres Tourist Office. Climb up to Place de la Castellane, then take the Strategic Road towards the train station.
  2. Turn right onto Chemin du Val de Pinte.  
  3. Leave Chemin du Val de Pinte and take the path towards Fort Saint-Elme.  
  4. Admire the fort and the view of Collioure, then return to this point and head towards Fort Dugommier, followed by the tunnel and the Col d'en Raixat.  
  5. At the pass, take the left path towards Col de Mollo.  
  6. Once on the road, turn right towards Col de Mollo, then continue straight towards Col de Taillefer.  
  7. After the pass, take the path on the right and continue on the Water Path.  
  8. Turn left towards Col de Formingó, then head to Batterie des 500 and the Madeloc Tower.  
  9. Return towards Col de Taillefer, then retrace the same route back to the Tourist Office.
